Startup architecture & strategic planning.

Architectural decisions made in a healthcare company's early days have a long half-life — the choices about platform design, data models, infrastructure, and stack made in year one shape what's possible and what's costly for years. Engagements span Newco development within large enterprises, product and strategic planning for venture-backed digital health, and architecture for firms navigating complex regulatory and stakeholder environments.

Selected Wins

  • Delivered compelling business and technology plans for a health plan startup — working with internal stakeholders to define both external commercial strategy and internal employee-focus alternatives. Plans secured investment commitments from external partners based on the strength and maturity of the execution approach.

  • Led analysis of strategic partnerships, outsourcing methodologies, market and vendor research, and financial models for a $2B payer spin-out. Staffed multiple Board committees in this capacity and regularly presented progress against IT strategic plans and key partner initiatives.

  • Developed the technical architecture for a spin-off e-health venture — articulating architecture and technical capabilities within pitch books and funding proposals. Participated directly in business and financing discussions with strategic partners, contributing to secured funding commitments.

  • Directed the technology migration planning for the spin-off of a $2B health plan to an independent non-profit entity. Partnered with business leaders and stakeholders to create a comprehensive technical business model for the newly independent organization.

  • Evaluated the technical architecture of B2B dot-com acquisition targets for a $6B consumer products manufacturer/distributor. Developed financial models and buy/build/outsource options tied to the company’s emerging B2C and B2B market strategy.
